Project Backpack

Project Backpack is a program available to MN military children. This program prepares military children for their upcoming school year by providing them with the school supplies needed for a successful year!

Project Backpack is a way to tell our military children that we appreciate what they sacrifice when their parent is deployed. For many families, this opportunity also helps to relieve the financial burden faced by many families when their civilian income is replaced by military wages.

How do I apply?
Applications for the 2011-2012 school year are now closed.

Who qualifies and how does it work?
Kindergarten to 12th grade children whose parents are currently deployed, recently returned (within 12 months), wounded, disabled or MIA / KIA are eligible to receive a backpack. College students are not eligible for this program.

Using the child’s school supply list, a parent or guardian completes the online application, and we will pack your son or daughters backpack with the school supplies on their list so that they will have what they need to start the new school year.

How can I help?
Volunteers are always needed to sort supplies and fill backpacks. We also accept donations to keep the program running, both monetary and in-kind - you can download a list of the sorts of supplies we need here.
